What few people know is that in 2019, an auditor analyzed Mecham's returns and found them to be false. That was likely the real reason Mecham closed Arlington and disappeared.
Whether or not there was any nefarious activity behind his disappearance, the message in this post holds true. Ignore the noise, invest in quality, distance yourself from Wall St and when you find a truly wonderful company - stick with it. You could change the name to Buffett and the story would hold true.
On the subject of disappearing after stellar returns, didn't Nick Sleep do something similar? It happens. Sometimes people know when they've made enough money and want to devote their lives to doing something else - philanthropy perhaps.
Another high quality post from Silba.
When most others publish word salad for the sake of publishing something, you say nothing unless you have something valuable for others to consider.
Thank you. Keep up the great work.
That was a very fun read. Thanks for posting!

Interesting. Any sources for that?

I made a mistake: it was since 2017 and wasn’t an auditor, it was a broker who analyzed Mecham’s returns.

Couldn’t have said it better myself.
I agree.
Get the best you can from every story.
Whether he did 400 or 300% is not the point.
